about rio

Rio picked up the guitar for the first time at the age of 13. From there he dedicate his life to the pursuit of being a high level musician. Along the way Rio has become proficient in many other instruments such as the bass, ukulele, and piano. In high school, Rio formed the local band American Barrikade that has performed all over Salem and the surrounding area for the last 8 years. To further pursue his passion for music, Rio attended the University of Oregon’s School of Music where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Music and a minor in Audio Production. At the University of Oregon, Rio performed with many different ensembles including the University Singers, Jazz Combos, Big bands, Wind Ensemble, and the Oregon Marching Band. Rio’s favorite performance from college was the moment he got to perform a guitar solo on Santana’s “Evil Ways” in front of the football crowd at the 2020 Rose Bowl.

Currently Rio is working as a choir teacher at Cascade School District and a Music Instructor at RiverCity Rock Star Academy. If you’re looking to improve in musicality, theory, technique, improvisation, or just getting started on your instrument you have found the right Instructor.
