Jamie SLoan
Jamie Sloan, known as Sloan, brings a rich and varied musical background to RiverCity Rock Star Academy. With over 30 years as a DJ—including her current role hosting Lunar Tunes at The Moon 105.5 and her past work at KMUZ Radio—Sloan’s passion for music is unmistakable. Her musical journey includes eight years as a drummer, two years of violin, and multiple seasons drumming with the RiverCity Renegades program. She continues to hone her drumming skills alongside fellow RiverCity instructor Doug Hoffman.
Sloan earned a B.A. in Communications and Audio Engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver. Her career highlights include serving as a guest speaker for the Women in Audio panel at the Los Angeles Audio Engineering Society Convention, working in retail and A&R roles at Wax Trax, Disky Business, Fahrenheit Records, and Reprise Records, and acting as Music Coordinator at The Spot Nighttime Urban Youth Center. She has also worked as a concert roadie and excelled in staff training roles in Denver and Portland, building an impressive portfolio of expertise in the music industry.
An active member of Salem’s music scene, Sloan played drums in the all-female punk band Hot Sheets. Her unwavering positivity and dedication to education make her an invaluable member of the RiverCity team. As Student Success Coordinator, Sloan leverages her extensive teaching, administrative, and music industry experience to empower students, guiding them on their unique musical journeys.
