Student Success Coordinator and Administrative Staff
Jamie SLoan
Jamie Sloan (‘Sloan’) has an extensive musical background that includes eight years of playing drums, two years of violin, and over 30 years as a DJ, including her current gig hosting Lunar Tunes at The Moon 105.5 and previously at KMUZ Radio.
Sloan received her B.A. in Communications/Audio Engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver. After college, she was selected as a guest speaker for the Women In Audio panel at the Los Angeles, Audio Engineering Society Convention. Her experience in retail and customer service, from Wax Trax and Disky Business Record Stores to A&R roles at Fahrenheit Records and Reprise Records, showcases her deep understanding of the music industry’s many facets. Sloan’s career is marked by significant achievements, including her role as a Music Coordinator at The Spot Nighttime Urban Youth Center and her leadership in staff training across Denver and Portland. Sloan also paid her dues as a concert roadie for several years before her commitment to performance. This blend of teaching, administrative, and music industry experience makes her a valuable asset to our team at RiverCity Rock Star Academy.
Sloan has been an active member of Salem’s music scene, including drumming for the all-female Punk band, Hot Sheets. She also played in the RiverCity Renegades program for multiple seasons, and continues to hone her drumming skills with fellow RiverCity Rock Star teacher, Doug Hoffman.
Sloan’s unwavering positivity, combined with her comprehensive expertise in music, education, and customer service, positions her as an ideal catalyst for our students’ musical journeys. Sloan has consistently demonstrated her commitment to enriching our musical community throughout her endeavors. Her diverse background equips her perfectly for her new role as Student Success Coordinator at RiverCity Rock Star Academy.
