Layne Ling

Layne is available for private lessons on Piano, woodwinds, and brass!

Layne has been immersed in music since the age of seven, beginning her journey with piano and choir in third grade, clarinet in fifth, and alto saxophone in seventh. As a student in the Salem-Keizer School District, she performed with McNary High School’s wind ensemble and jazz band, participated in OSAA State Solo and Ensemble competitions, and took part in All-City band events.

Currently a junior at Western Oregon University (WOU), Layne is working toward a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She previously attended Chemeketa Community College before transferring to WOU, where she has expanded her expertise through instrumental technique courses in strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion pedagogy.

In 2024, Layne coordinated the Great Western Music Championships, a high school band and orchestra festival hosted by the WOU Music Department. She specializes in piano, clarinet, and saxophone, with additional proficiency in flute and oboe. As a private instructor for four years, Layne has worked with students ranging from ages five to fifty, focusing primarily on classical techniques while incorporating elements of basic jazz.

Layne joined RiverCity Rock Star Academy in Winter 2024 and is excited to share her passion for music education with students. She is currently student teaching in Salem-Keizer music classrooms while finishing her degree. Layne is available for private lessons in piano, clarinet, saxophone, flute, and oboe.
