Layne Ling
Layne is available for private lessons on Piano, woodwinds, and brass!
Layne has been a musician since she was 7-years-old. She started piano and choir in third grade, clarinet in fifth grade, and alto saxophone in seventh grade, and continued down the instrumental pathway through college. While as a student in the Salem-Keizer school district, she performed in McNary High School’s wind ensemble and jazz band, OSAA State and Solo and Ensemble competitions, and All-City band events. Layne is currently a Junior at Western Oregon University (WOU), working towards her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. She previously attended Chemeketa Community College before transferring over to WOU.
In 2024, Layne had the opportunity to coordinate the Great Western Music Championships, a high school band and orchestra festival that was hosted by the WOU Music Department. She has taken a variety of instrumental technique courses including strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion pedagogy. Layne specializes in piano, clarinet, and saxophone, and is also proficient in other woodwinds. She has been a private lessons instructor for four years, and has welcomed a wide range of students, from five to 50 years old. Her lessons focus on classical techniques, and she also works on basic jazz. She currently lives in the Salem area while finishing her degree and she will be student teaching in the Salem-Keizer school district in music classrooms in the Fall 2024! She joined RiverCity Rock Star Academy in the Winter season of 2024 and is available for piano, clarinet, saxophone, flute, and oboe lessons.
