Fall is the perfect time to pick up an instrument, join a band, and make some noise.
Enrollment is now open for Fall 2026 Music Classes at RiverCity Rock Star Academy in Salem, Oregon, with programs available for kids, teens, and adults. Whether you are picking up an instrument for the first time, looking to build your skills, or ready to get back on stage, there is a place for you at RiverCity.
Our Fall 2026 classes begin the week of September 14, 2026, and run through the fall season (with most programs wrapping up in late November to early December).
Each class gives musicians the opportunity to learn, rehearse with a real band, build confidence, meet other musicians, and work toward live two live performances.

Music Classes for Kids, Teens, and Adults in Salem
RiverCity offers classes designed for different ages, experience levels, and musical interests.
Pop Rocks | Ages 4–7
A six-week introductory music class designed especially for younger musicians. Students explore rhythm, notes, different instruments, and music through games and hands-on activities.

Young Rockers | Ages 8–11
A beginner-friendly band experience where young musicians can develop their skills, learn how to play with others, and experience what it is like to be part of a rock band.

Rockers (Tuesday & Saturday) | Ages 12–18
Our teen Rockers program welcomes musicians of all skill levels. Students learn and perform music inspired by artists ranging from The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac to Nirvana and the Ramones. Tuesday and Saturday class options are available this fall.

Ruckus | Ages 12–18
For students who like their music fast, loud, and full of energy. Ruckus is RiverCity's punk-focused program, combining real band rehearsals with an emphasis on rhythm, song structure, tone, stage presence, individuality, and collaboration.

Reapers | Ages 14–20
Built for intermediate to advanced musicians who want to dig deeper into metal. Students explore techniques, alternate tunings, scales, modes, and music inspired by bands such as Korn, Gojira, Slipknot, and Ghost.

Renegades | Ages 19+
Want to play in a band as an adult? Renegades welcomes beginners and experienced musicians alike. The group explores rock, punk, emo, indie, reggae, and more while giving members the opportunity to help shape the setlist.

Ramblers | Ages 21+
RiverCity's adult blues program is an opportunity to develop your musicianship while playing alongside other musicians. Explore blues techniques, scales, improvisation, and music inspired by artists including B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Nina Simone.

More Than Just a Weekly Music Class
RiverCity's band programs are built around learning by actually playing music with other people.
Most Fall band programs include regular group rehearsals along with a weekly 30-minute private lesson on guitar, drums, bass, piano, or vocals. Students develop individual skills during their private lessons, then put those skills to work alongside their bandmates.
Students build confidence, develop stage presence, learn how to collaborate with other musicians, and work toward opportunities to perform live for friends, family, and the RiverCity community.
And beginners are welcome in many of our programs. You do not need years of experience or the ability to read sheet music before getting started.
