Looking for a place where teen musicians can play in a band, improve their skills, and perform live on stage?
RiverCity Rock Star Academy in Salem is now enrolling for Spring 2026 Teen Band Programs, designed for students ages 12–18 who want to take their music to the next level.
Our teen programs give students the opportunity to rehearse in a real band environment, collaborate with other musicians, and prepare for live performances at the end of the session.
Whether students are into rock, punk, metal, or alternative music, there is a program for every style and experience level.
Rockers – Teen Rock Band Program
The Rockers program is RiverCity’s core teen band experience. Students form bands, rehearse songs together, and build the skills needed to perform live.
Students will develop:
- Ensemble playing
- Stage confidence
- Song arrangement
- Collaboration with other musicians
Rockers bands cover a variety of styles including classic rock, alternative, indie, and modern rock.
Two Rockers sessions are available this spring.

For students who want to dive into heavier music, the Reapers program focuses on the technical and high-energy world of metal music.
Students explore different subgenres of metal while learning techniques such as:
- Double pedal drumming
- Pick sweeping
- Chugging riffs
- Fast alternate picking
- Shredding guitar leads
This program is perfect for students who want to challenge themselves musically while playing powerful, high-energy music.
The Ruckus program is designed for students who love the energy and attitude of punk rock.
Students explore the fast-paced world of punk music while developing tight rhythm playing, songwriting ideas, and stage presence.
Ruckus is a great fit for students who enjoy:
- Punk rock
- Pop punk
- Skate punk
- Garage rock
Students learn how to lock in as a band while capturing the raw energy that defines punk music.
All teen band programs work toward live performances, giving students the opportunity to experience the excitement of playing on stage and sharing music with the community.
These shows help students build confidence, strengthen their musicianship, and celebrate the hard work they put in throughout the session.
