Private Lessons With Alice Somerville - Ukulele, Piano, Viola, Violin, And Vocals

Alice is a Salem native who graduated from West Salem High School in 2018. Growing up, Alice was very active with choir, orchestra, and theater, winning many awards as a soloist and with her ensembles. Throughout middle and high school she studied voice, viola, and piano privately.

In 2022, Alice graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education with an emphasis on K-12 choral education. While attending the U of O, she sang with the University of Oregon Chamber Choir under the direction of Dr. Sharon Paul. During her time with the Chamber Choir, they won international recognition with tours in Sweden (2019) and Spain (2022).

Alice studied voice with Milagro Vargas and Dr. Camille Ortiz at the U of O. She was also a participant in the opera program where she performed the roles of Elvira in Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, Mrs. Nordstrom in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, Aire in Antonio Literes’s Los Elementos, and Oberto in Handel's Alcina.

Alice continued her study of instrumental music at the U of O by taking techniques classes for all of the wind instruments, continued to play in orchestra, and played in the band.

When Alice is not at RiverCity, she is teaching elementary music at Valley Inquiry Charter School. She also continues to be an active performer in Oregon, performing with groups such as Eugene Symphony Chorus, Eugene Opera, Cascadia Chamber Opera, and the Portland Chamber Choir, In Medio.

Alice is currently available to teach voice, violin, viola, and piano.
