Jarred has been with RiverCity since January 2017, first as an instructor for The Beatles program and private bass teacher. In Fall 2017 he became the co-music director at the music school and director of the RiverCity Royals program, RiverCity’s audition performance program for advanced students. In 2019 alone, the Royals performed at over 30 community and private events. In addition to directing the Royals, Jarred currently serves as Program Director at RiverCity, leads several music programs, and continues to provide bass lessons.

In addition to his time with RiverCity, Jarred is a busy and respected musician in the community, performing and recording with numerous bands.

Jarred is available for bass lessons and currently teaches the Royals, Renegades, and Rockers programs.

Music Education FAQs

What makes your group classes different than a conventional music lesson program?

When you enroll in a Group Class with us, you will have a weekly 1-on-1 lesson on your instrument of choice- in addition, the weekly group rehearsal involves music exercises, learning group songs, correct band equipment set-up/break-down, and so much more! Our classes culminate in an opportunity to perform with your group for your family and friends. This means students enjoy the best of all learning scenarios- private learning, along with learning is a group.

What does my skill level need to be to join Rivercity Rockstar Academy?

Zero experience is needed! We have different programs suitable for first time beginners to advanced musicians. We get everyone playing a real song right away.

Do I need to know how to read sheet music?

No, it's not required, but always helpful. We will teach you what you will need to know based on your skill level and experience.

Can I play multiple instruments at the school?

You'll have the opportunity to play multiple instruments and/or sing if you're interested. We encourage all of our students to play multiple instruments and sing. Our coveted Five Star Award goes to a student who plays 5 or more different instruments or sings in one show!

Do I need to have my own instrument(s)?

No! We have instruments at the studio for you to use. If you have your own instrument, you are welcome to bring it.

Am I too young/old for the program?

We have music education programs for kids, teens, and adults! Private lessons are open to all ages. Check out our Classes page for group learning options by age range.

How does billing work?

Our billing is based on a 12-week season rehearsal schedule; you will be invoiced on the first of the month when the program begins minus any required deposit.

Enrollees can now choose which pricing and payment option works best for them. Choose from one payment in full (for an additional 5% savings) or four monthly payments over the course of the season.

All discounts apply including 5% off each for sibling/family members enrolling during the same season and qualified referrals.

We bill electronically and you can pay with a credit card, Paypal, check and/or cash.

Do you offer scholarships?

RiverCity participates in the Salem Music Initiative program that provides scholarships and tuition assistance to qualified students for lessons, music classes, camps, and workshops. To find out more, please schedule a visit or contact us.

What can I say about Jarred...? I can't tell you how many times I've had a bad day at work, just feel beat up, don't want to do anything, definitely don't want to go to my lesson... We've all been there, just a bummer of a day. But every time that happens, my wife hands me a box of straws and tells me to suck it up and to get out of the house and go to my lesson... I have such a great time with Jarred that after words I come home and I'm ready to go again. Jarred is a fantastic teacher and musician in general! He always has a positive attitude and he makes it fun. If you want to have a day where you talk about theory, he's game. If you have a day where you just want to rock out and learn a new song that got stuck in your head, he's game. Yesterday we played with some amp settings and worked on where we would want to change some of them depending on the song we're playing. Jarred is just an all around awesome dude! You won't be disappointed taking some lessons with him!
